Elizabeth II has been serving as a monarch for 70 years. At the moment she is the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Queen Elizabeth II was known for taking a serious interest in many things. Apart from Elizabeth and Victoria, only four other monarchs in British history have reigned for 50 years or more: George III (59 years), Henry III (56 years), Edward III (50 years) and James VI of Scotland (58 years). The Beatles immortalized her with the tongue-in-cheek “Her Majesty,” calling her “a pretty nice girl” though “she doesn’t have a lot to say.” The brief song, sung by Paul McCartney and recorded in 1969, appeared at the end of the “Abbey Road” album.

The Queen was very fond of corgis since she was a small child, having fallen in love with the corgis owned by the children of the Marquess of Bath. King George VI brought home Dookie, her first corgi, in 1933.



Since that moment a great love also has become a significant and well-known part of the Queen's life.
